Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2021 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Hey everybody, Zach here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the Saris MHS Two Bike platform style rack on our 2021 Toyota Tacoma. This is gonna be a really cool bike rack from Saris. I really like the double wheel mount style. Traditionally, bike racks would either grab the top tube with a hook that comes down or you'd see just one hook that comes in and grabs right before the fork. This way, this allows us to get bigger bikes on there but what I really run into an issue is having my handlebars interfere with the seat of the second bike that I put on. more

Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2017 Toyota RAV4- Video
Hey everyone, I'm Charles with etrailer and today we'll be taking a look at the Saris MHS modular bike rack for two bikes for two inch hitches on the 2017 Toyota RAV4. So, this is a platform style rack made out of a steel and aluminum construction with a black powder coat finish, making it rust resistant and very durable. So, one of the cool things about this rack system is that it does have a tilt away function. It's right here on the handle. Something to keep in mind as this does carry heavy bikes, that you are gonna have the weight of those two bikes when you are tilting away and lifting back up. So, something I like to do is just keep one hand here or on the closest bike, take a step back, so that I don't get knocked out before my ride. more

Hey, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today, we have the RockyMounts MonoRail 2-Bike Platform Rack. We'll take a look at how this fits our 2023 Toyota Highlander. So for this bike rack, it is really popular, because of its versatility where you get the premium features like tilt away and the 60 pound per bike weight capacity at a slightly more affordable price than the other premium bike racks. It's still a solid bike rack though, and I recommend it almost every single time. With the Highlander, there are some things to consider, like the Highlander's hitch does sit a little bit higher up, so you are having to lift your bikes a bit more to get them onto the rack. Another feature of the MonoRail is the tilt away. more

So the Kuat NV is really popular as a premium bike rack with premium features, if you want almost the best of the best, this is what you would go with. Now, it does have some downsides like its premium price as well as it is a hefty bike rack, so we'll talk about that, but we're gonna focus on our Highlander. The first feature this has is it tilts away. There's an easy to access lever in the center of the rack, we're gonna pull that lever, and then just let the bike rack drop down to a tilt. RockyMounts AfterParty Swing Away 2 Bike Rack Review - 2017 Toyota RAV4- Video
Hi everybody, Cooper here from etrailer and today we are going to be looking at our RockyMounts AfterParty on our 2017 Toyota RAV4. The AfterParty is a platform style bike rack that's gonna be able to hold up to two bikes and then those bikes are going to be weighted for 60 pounds each. The way that the AfterParty holds the bike is actually in a frameless contact way where it is ratcheting arms on either side of the bike, so that way it is held perfectly within place. One of the big advantages of the AfterParty is it's feature to go ahead and tilt away from the car allowing us a lot more access to our back end compared to some of the other bike racks that don't. So with something like this, I'm a lot more comfortable sitting down, maybe actually having the room and availability to tie my shoes because it is swung back away, you know, before or after loading, hitting the trails. And in order to lift it back up we actually don't have to pull on the handle. more

Now, this is going to be a platform-style bike rack, and this one is going to be a really nice one. It's really easy to use, it works with a pretty wide range of bikes, not as many as some others, but a pretty good range. And it's going to have some unique things like color options, you don't get that with every bike rack around, so if you wanna get this matched to your vehicle and have it look really nice on the back, you can do that. We've got the gray version on display right now, you can also get it in a black color or a pearl color, which is a more white material. more

Now, it's going to be a more high end platform-style bike rack, very easy to operate and works with a wide range bikes. This particular one is gonna be a dual wheel mount style, which means we're holding the bike by the tires on both sides using these integrated wheel hoops. Now, for this type of style, it's not gonna make any frame contact, making this a good option for carbon frame bikes, alternative frame bikes, and with a 60 pound weight capacity per bike, good for some of our e-bikes too. Like many other platform racks, you do have the ability to tilt this away with the bikes loaded. more

The NV is a platform-style bike rack capable of carrying up to two bikes, and it's going to make it really easy to do so because it's a very nice premium bike rack. This one holds the bike by the tire using this wheel hook up front, and that means it doesn't make any sort of frame contact on the bike. That makes it good for carbon frame bikes, alternative frame bikes, and with the 60 pound weight capacity per bike, it's gonna work well for some of our e-bikes too. Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Curt Premium hitch bike rack and how it fits on our 2022 Toyota Tacoma. The Curt Premium is a hanging style bike rack capable of supporting four bikes up to 180 pounds total. It's going to hold onto our bikes primarily by the top tube with one anti-sway cradle here in the back. It does taper down towards the end to accommodate some kids' bikes, but if you do have an aggressive alternative frame style bike you might have to pick up a bike adapter bar to make it work. Also, if you have carbon frame bikes, we'd recommend using against this type of rack because it does make that primary frame contact and could potentially damage your frame while you're driving. more

Curt Premium 4 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Toyota RAV4- Video
Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Curt Premium four bike hanging style bike rack and how it fits on the back of our 2022 Toyota RAV4. This is a hanging style bike rack and it does taper towards the end, which we'll get to in just a little bit, but it might be a good option for you if you're trying to transport up to four bikes, at 180 pounds total, where you need 'em to go. Our bike is held in place by these cradles, two on either side with these rubber straps as well as this rubber strap to prevent it from swaying in the back. So it will make frame contact with your bike which is important to keep in mind cuz if you do have a carbon frame bike it could potentially damage the frame while you're driving. Like I mentioned, you can see that it does taper here towards the end. more

Hi, everyone. Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the RockyMounts AfterParty SwingAway Bike Rack and seeing how it fits on our 2022 Toyota Tundra. So, like it looks right now, the big benefit of this is that it's a swing away bike rack. So, for your trucks it's gonna be a really solid fit because it allows full clearance with your tailgate and full access to it where we don't have something in our way, so if we need to get something loaded or unloaded, hop in the back or just have a place to sit. One, we have clearance because a lot of times even with a bike rack tilts away, it doesn't have full clearance, and you'll see that a little bit later, but even when it does have full clearance, it's still sitting in front of the tailgate and it doesn't give us a good place to sit. more

I'll show you with the handle underneath you can pull it, tilt the whole rack down and use that to get quick and easy hatch access. Even on the 4Runner here with the very large hatch, it still does clear with plenty of room because of how aggressively it tilts. more

It's gonna hold our bike primarily by this wheel hook here and one extra strap down here at the bottom. This rack is really nice for bikes that may be a carbon frame or alternative frame, because it does use this wheel hook rather than making contact with the frame itself. So that's a nice feature about this bike rack that I enjoy. more

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima Ridgeback hanging style bike rack and how it fits on the 2022 Toyota Tacoma. So the Yakima Ridgeback bike rack is what you would consider if you wanna carry around a lot of bikes, without taking up too much space. So we have a four version here. But you can also get a five version, where you can carry up to five bikes. Now hanging racks have their own pros and cons, like how it's a little trickier to get bikes on there compared to a platform rack and you don't have the same type of stability. more

Hollywood Racks Destination 4 Bike Platform Rack Review - 2022 Toyota Tacoma- Video
How's it going everyone It's Ethan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination four on our 2022 Toyota Tacoma. The destination four is a platform style bike rack capable of supporting up to four bikes, 35 pounds each. Holding onto our bike primarily through these rotating padded clamps on our center mast here. And two additional points on the tires at the bottom. Because the rack is using a center mast that holds onto the actual frame of your bike, it's gonna be important to avoid using carbon frame bikes on this type of rack just because that could cause some potential damage with a carbon frame. more

Saris Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Toyota Prius v- Video
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we'll be taking a look at how the Saris SuperClamp EX two bike platform rack fits on the 2014 Toyota Prius V. So the SuperClamp EX is very versatile because you have an 1 1/4" shank as well as a included 2" hitch adapter. With a 60 pound weight capacity per bike whether you have your light bikes or your heavier bikes, it can work with them. Now there's some downsides to this too which it does take a little bit more extra effort to get things lined up. With that 2" hitch adapter, I cannot use the hitch pin alignment collar so I'm gonna have to do this manually every time I play it into my hitch. So now that hitch pin hole on the bike rack is aligned with the hitch pin hole on the vehicle. more

RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack Review - 2022 Toyota RAV4- Video
How's it going everyone Ethan at etrailer here today to talk to you about the RockyMounts MonoRail on our 2022 Toyota RAV4. The RockyMounts MonoRail is a two-bike platform style bike rack that holds onto our bikes right here with the wheel hook, and another point of contact right down here with this wheel strap. So because it holds the bike by the wheel rather than the frame, it's gonna be a good bike rack for your carbon fiber bikes or your alternative style bikes because there won't be any frame contact like I mentioned before. And it supports up to 60 pounds per bike, so it should be fine for any of your higher range mountain bikes. Another thing I like about this bike rack is that if you come down here and pull this blue lever, it allows you to tilt the bike rack towards you and in doing so you can actually come around and access the cargo area. And as you can see, plenty of clearance. more

Hollywood Racks Destination 2 Bike Platform Rack Review - 2022 Toyota RAV4- Video
How's it going everyone It's Ethan at etrailer here, today taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination on our 2022 Toyota RAV4. How this rack's actually gonna hold onto our bike is by using these padded rotating cradles that also have a zip strip on the end of them, they rotate 360 degrees, and they can support alternative frames, but if you we're to have a carbon frame bike, it's something you probably wanna avoid. Our bike is then held on by two secondary points of contact at the bottom here, these straps, one goes through the front, one goes through the back. The bike rack itself doesn't tilt away, which is something you're gonna wanna keep in mind, but we'll go ahead and show you how the bike comes off. So you're gonna go ahead and release this back strap first, come around to the front side, release this other strap. And this is where it can get a little bit tricky with this one, because you're gonna have to hold the bike while you manipulate this, and for our mountain bike here, it's actually going through the cup holder, so it's something to keep in mind, is that it might not be the perfect fit for all of your bikes, but if you just bear with me, should come out eventually, there we go. more

Yakima FullTilt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video
How's it going, everyone Ethan with Etrailer here to show you the Yakima FullTilt Hanging Bike Rack on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. This rack will support five bikes up to 150 pounds total. So about 30 pounds per bike. One thing to consider is that it's probably not gonna be the best fit for alternative style and kids style bikes. And if you have a carbon frame bike, you probably wanna avoid any sort of use of this at all 'cause it's gonna be held solely on the frame here. Okay, so one thing that we're gonna note here is that once you take this anti-sway out of play, and I can't, it's not the easiest thing to get to in the world to be honest but once you get that out, you're gonna notice that the bike does move pretty good back and forth but gravity usually does its thing and holds those in place for the most part. more

So the Kuat Transfer is pretty popular because of its unique goal post design. You have more space on the inside making it easier for you to mount or dismount your bikes. And especially if you get the four bike versions this can be very, very helpful. It has some downsides too, like limited clearance when you wanna lower your tailgate. Yakima Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video
Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Yakima OnRamp on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. The OnRamp is a platform style bike rack. It's gonna hold the bikes in these trays and primarily by our frame up top. We have this cradle with a strap run around the frame to hold it in place as well as two wheel straps in the bottom that pull the bike down and in. The result is actually a really strong hold. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video
Hi everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Thule Helium Platform XT on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. The Helium's gonna be a platform style bike rack like the name suggests, it's gonna hold the bike in these trays and by our wheels. You've got a dual wheel mount design here holding the bike by each tire. That means zero frame contact, making it good for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes, and it does have a 45 pound weight capacity per bike, so not the best option for e-bikes. I think overall it works fairly okay on the RAV4, although there are some concerning fitment issues that we'll point out as the video goes on, but just know that kind of going into it. more
